HABIT Training

Our interactive HABIT training equips Health Visiting teams with the knowledge and confidence to undertake effective oral health conversations using the following:

01

Oral Health and Resources Guide

Working with communities across Bradford and parents with limited English, we have developed several accessible, parent facing resources to support oral health conversations. These include: toothbrushing models, a leaflet, a website and six oral health videos. The training will take you through these resources in detail, and also give you a thorough overview of the current oral health landscape and up to date guidance.

02

Behaviour Change

HABIT is underpinned by behaviour change and complex intervention theory, and this is a key focus of the training session. Time is spent assessing readiness to change, how to 'roll with resistance', and how to set goals and create action plans with parents.

Forum Theatre

Forum theatre is less intimidating than it sounds! It is a great opportunity to allow health visiting teams to practice their oral health conversations in a safe and supportive space, utilising our actors to create realistic scenarios. This really helps to encourage discussion and peer learning amongst colleagues.
